Close your eyes for a moment and picture the world you want to live in.
Who is in that picture? How does it feel? What can you taste and smell? Who do you touch?
Hold your focus there for as long as necessary until you can see it, sense it, and become it.
Pretty amazing, isn’t it?
I am convinced we can step into this brand new existence. I am convinced that it is ours for the taking, if only we all collectively decided it to be.
So how do we get there?
To-date, our very existence has been predicated on turning us away from reality.
While “reality” programs bombard the TV schedule with grotesque examples of lifestyles of the rich and want-to-be famous…and while “influencers” attempt to bombard your social media feed with sex, money, fame, and all things material…and while our society delivers us regular programming that it’s “all about what I want” and “we can have it all”… and while our government or the powers that be bombard us with social programming to insist that we are all divided based on our race, religion, sexual orientation, and now….health status……
…We have lost all sense of reality.
We have lost the true essence of who we are and why we are here:
The lessons we are meant to learn.
The people we are meant to love.
The experiences we are meant to have.
The humans were are meant to become.
I came to realize a few years ago that I was squarely in this boat, and helping to steer the course.
Would you believe me if I told you that the world you pictured a moment ago is the reality you can have when you want it?
Would you believe me if I told you that the path forward out of the madness that permeates our society (and likely, your mind) starts squarely with YOU (and not that spouse who is driving you crazy or the child that misbehaves or the boss you can’t stand…)?
Would you believe me if I told you that letting go of all you thought you wanted and instead embracing the human you are meant to become is the fastest road to happiness?
Oh, there is much work to be done.
And the first order of business is to Get Real with ourselves.
We can do this.
